Beware the angry pilgrim

I realize this weekend was beautiful - bright sunshine, warm temperatures, soft breezes. Just a couple of picture perfect indian summer days. I also realize that, this being November, many people took advantage of the great weather and put up their outdoor Christmas lights. I can understand the motivation - this is northern Illinois, after all. This kind of weather cannot last and we are more likely to have snow this coming weekend and all subsequent weekends than to have a repeat of this past weekend. I get it. However, just because you have your Christmas lights up already does not mean you need to turn them on.

You have been warned.

Normally I would agree...but not this year. Go to www.decoratefordax.com and see why EVERYONE should decorate early this year! Here's the short version...Dax is a two year old who lives in Washington, IL (just outside of Peoria...where I live now!). He has leukemia and only had weeks to live. They don't think he will make it until Christmas, so his mom and dad decorated early. This made his whole neighborhood decorate early...and now it has taken off and people from all over the US and around the world are "decorating for Dax." Obviously, it is symbolic in many ways. However, Dax's parents have decided to use this as a way to encourage people to donate to St. Jude since that is where Dax has been treated throughout his illness. So when someone asks "Why in the world do you have your lights up so early?" you can tell them about Dax and St. Jude. So needless to say, around here, Christmas lights this early are heart-warming to say the least!

On a completely different note...I was beginning to worry about you since you hadn't posted in so long! Jenn and Jamie came for a visit over the summer, and I asked them about you! I am so glad to see you blogging again! :-)
